Slacker Maurice Fadinar wasted his whole inheritance and the only way out of this situation, as it seems, to marry Helen Nonankur - daughter of a wealthy farmer. At the last meeting with his mistress in a nearby forest Fadinar's horse eats straw hat which belongs to a married lady, spending time in the company of young and hot Lieutenant Emil. Emil literally puts a knife to Maurice throat - or the lady will get back the exact same hat immediately, or he will arrange such a scandal that no wedding will not happen ...

In 1900, Stepha, the vivacious 30 year old daughter of a wealthy couple, agrees to marry her cousin Paul, who has accumulated large debts as an Austrian army officer. Paul refuses to work or to consummate the marriage, and then his health steadily declines.

Prague 1944. Devant la menace des bombardements aériens, la petite Nadia est envoyée par sa mère à la campagne chez son grand-père. Là-bas, elle trouve un vrai petit paradis qu'elle partage avec les autres enfants des environs. Malheureusement, le village si tranquille d'habitude, est bousculé par l'arrivée de troupes allemandes qui recherchent des résistants retranchés dans les montagnes. Les enfants vont trouver une idée pour faire revenir la tranquillité et faire gagner les résistants.
