Jewel Mae Orcutt, plus communément appelée Cookie, est une vieille dame excentrique qui vit dans un manoir à Holly Springs, une bourgade du Mississippi. Affligée de nombreux maux, elle apprécie la présence à ses côtés de Willis Richard, un Noir débonnaire qui fut le meilleur ami de son défunt mari, qu'elle pleure encore. Camille et Cora, ses nièces, ont des prétentions culturelles et organisent des soirées théâtrales. Prise d'un accès de nostalgie, Cookie se suicide. Ses deux nièces, horrifiées par ce manquement aux bonnes manières, décident de maquiller le suicide en crime.

Memphis, 1956. Le pianiste chanteur Jerry Lee Lewis, alors âgé de 21 ans seulement, enregistre un premier disque sous la houlette du producteur Sam Philips, celui-là même qui lança Elvis Presley. Le succès est immédiat, mais la vie de l'Américain bascule lorsqu'il se marie avec sa cousine, âgée de treize ans. Leur union fait scandale, mais Jerry Lee Lewis surmonte cette épreuve grâce à ce qui l'a toujours accompagné depuis ses débuts : le rock'n'roll.

Earl Pilcher a 60 ans. Il a passé toute sa vie dans la même ville, dans la même maison, en Arkansas. It’s the Summer of 1969. The temperature hovers around 105 degrees on a humid weekend in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s only been a year since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But on this particular weekend, everyone in town, all races, creeds and colors have come out for the Fourth Annual Memphis Country Blues Festival. The lineup is the most ambitious in years, welcoming blues masters like Bukka White, Sleepy John Estes, Furry Lewis and the 106 year-old Nathan Beauregard, coupled with more notable headliners like Rufus Thomas & The Bar-Kays, John Fahey and rocker Johnny Winter. One attendee that year was Gene Rosenthal, who brought along a couple of cameras, a small crew and left with 40,000 feet of color film that was left untouched for nearly 50 years….until now. ‘Memphis 69’ is a time capsule. If you’re a blues enthusiast, watching this film feels like you’ve opened up a treasure chest and discovered that you’ve hit the motherload.

Police Story is an anthology television crime drama. The show was the brainchild of author and former policeman Joseph Wambaugh and represented a major step forward in the realistic depiction of police work and violence on network TV. Although it was an anthology, there were certain things that all episodes had in common; for instance, the main character in each episode was a police officer. The setting was always Los Angeles and the characters always worked for some branch of the LAPD. Notwithstanding the anthology format, there were recurring characters. Scott Brady appeared in more than a dozen episodes as "Vinnie," a former cop who, upon retirement, had opened a bar catering to police officers, and who acted as a sort of Greek chorus during the run of the series, commenting on the characters and plots.
