By a twist of fate, a Warsaw crook becomes a translator at a reunion of high school graduates in a small town. There he learns about a treasure buried by the participants of the ceremony. The film, completed in 1972 was shelved by the censors and believed lost until it was found and finally released in 2009.

Set in 1944. A shepherd boy enters an abandoned palace he has seen only from the distance since he was a boy. Once he enters the palace, strange things begin to happen as though he was dreaming the events rather than living them.

Le garçon dispose d'un travail sûr qui lui convient mais finit par devenir un petit voleur qui ne peut plus payer ses dettes et décide de voler des maisons où il rend visite à des femmes au foyer solitaires. La fille travaille comme infirmière mais est trop sensible dans les cas extrêmes. Parallèlement à leur histoire, on trouve une métaphore d'un laissez-pour-compte dans une casse, qui s'efforce par tous les moyens de se débarrasser du chien qui s'attache à lui. À la fin, il attache des bâtons de dynamite au chien, mais ils se détachent et l'explosion les tue tous les deux.

Kazik and Władzio, two old friends meet again after many years. Kazik, a small-time swindler and playboy confesses that he needs a place to live, so Władzio offers for him to move in his apartment.

The film is set in 1905, in a time of feverish revolutionary underground activity in Poland partitioned between three neighbours. All the characters are committed anarchists. The bomb maker puts an invention together to place it at the disposal of young inexperienced terrorists fighting against Tsarist oppression. The story follows the passing of this bomb from anarchist to anarchist as several attempts are made on the life of Tsarist governor general, until, at the end, it is effectively and harmlessly defused by a bomb expert. The presence of the bomb has a destroying effect on all of the Polish revolutionaries, they either die or breakdown.
