Ce drama est en fait le préquel de The Lost Tomb, également basé sur la série de romans "Dao Mu Bi Ji" (盜墓筆記) de l'auteur Nan Pai San Shu. Après l'arrivée d'un train étrange à Changsha, l'enquête de Zhang Qi Shan le mène à une mine abandonnée qui fut le théâtre d'évènements funestes. Il y découvre une ancienne tombe et dévoile le plan horrible de japonais voulant faire tomber les neuf familles de Changsha et empoisonner la rivière de la cité. Il recherche alors de l'aide auprès de ses amis Er Yue Hong et Qi Tie Zui pour contrer les japonais en mettant la main en premier sur la mine et ses trésors.
