La composante policière est à la base de chaque épisode, mais au sein de l'intrigue, il y a un choc des personnages, leurs histoires familiales et les changements qui se produisent avec chacun d'eux. On y suit aussi le personnage du stagiaire Karandyshev qui évolue et passe d'un jeune naïf à un vrai professionnel.
