Au lycée, Qiao Jing Jing était amoureuse de Yu Tu, un génie passionné d'aérospatiale, mais bien qu'elle se soit déclarée elle n'a jamais eu l'occasion de concrétiser son amour. Dix ans plus tard, Qiao Jing Jing est devenue une grande célébrité. Alors qu'elle a l'occasion de devenir l'ambassadrice du célèbre jeu vidéo Honor of Kings, une vidéo est postée en ligne affectant sa réputation : en effet, elle serait une joueuse très médiocre et son image ne correspondrait pas à celle du jeu. Craignant pour sa carrière, elle se voit contraint de participer à une cérémonie dans laquelle elle devra jouer Honor of Kings avec des fans sélectionnés au hasard. En s'entrainant au jeu, elle va recroiser la route de Yu Tu qui va devenir son coach de jeu.

Set in Qingdao from the 1990s to the early 2000s, the drama follows the ups and downs of Chen Yiduo, Bi Laifu, and their friends during the decade. It depicts the inspirational story of a group of young people in the 90s who grow up and struggle in their youth and pursue a better life amidst the changes of the times.

While growing up, Chi Zhen (Ronald Zhai) learns all the necessary skills and tricks to survive in a harsh world. He becomes an unscrupulous lawyer, but is caught by the police for a crime and sent to jail. Lu Li (Andrew Yin), on the other hand, is the top student of the police academy. When he starts working as a police officer, he manages to solve several big cases in a few years time only and is thus appointed as the chief of his police station. Four years later, the released Chi Zhen is on his way to become a successful businessman while Lu Li is trying to find hints in a mysterious case. Fate brings Chi Zhen and Lu Li eventually together, and while they start out as opponents, they later become partners and friends who even put their lives in each other’s hands.

Part-time translator Ming Wei is cast as the lead in a drama with award-winning actor Mu Tingzhou. After an accident, he loses his memory and believes Ming Wei is the princess from their drama. As she helps him recover, their connection deepens leading to a heartfelt romance.
