When a young soldier is killed while trying to prevent his younger sister, Kaoru, from being sold into a life of prostitution, his commander, Col. Miyagi, tries to honor his dying wish to rescue his sister. Upon finding Kaoru at a party working as a geisha and later rescuing her from committing suicide, Col. Miyagi allows her to move in with him. Over time, the two grow close, but in spite of Kaoru's growing feelings for him, Col. Miyagi is unable to bring himself to return her love. On the night of his deployment to war, Col. Miyagi finally admits his feelings for Kaoru, but will they ever be able to enjoy a peaceful life together now that a very violent and bloody military revolt is under way...

Depicts the bloody siege of the fortress of Port Arthur, one of the most strongly fortified positions in the world, during the Russo-Japanese War of (1904 - 1905). In the story dominated the character Lt Takeshi Kogyo (Teruhiko Aoi), teachers, and a reserve officer who became commander of the platoon and later company. At the same time monitors the conduct of the army commander general Nogi (Tatsuya Nakadai), which was commissioned of the emperor Matsuhito (Toshirô Mifune) to the conquest of the fort.

Momojiro et Jonathan manquent de se retrouver dans le décor à cause d’un routier accompagné d’un molosse. Plus tard, en prenant le ferry, Jonathan est pris de troubles de la vision tandis que Momojiro est subjugué par une jeune et belle chanteuse, Yuka. Les troubles de Jonathan s’intensifient, et il décide d’en finir. Il est sauvé par l’intervention d’une autre jeune fille, Fumiko. Momojiro tombe alors sous le charme. Momo va-t-il faire son choix et conclure ?
