Kantarô et Mitsuko appartiennent à la délinquance juvénile dans le Tôkyô dans du milieu des années cinquante. Ils sont arrêtés pour vol et envoyés en maison de redressement. Tandis que Kantarô tente de s’échapper pour retrouver Mitsuko, Mitsuko endure la vie carcérale mais son état de santé s’aggrave de jour en jour. Le médecin comprend bientôt que Mitsuko est une irradiée atomique, quand celle-ci lui confie qu’elle s’était retrouvée à Hiroshima quelques jours après l’explosion de la bombe.

Sayuri, a young woman born to a simple life on a farm, moves to Tokyo to pursue a life long dream of becoming a singer. Through dance, music, and songs, this story shows how a girl raised on a farm was able to make her dream a reality, with the love of those around her.
