Une fillette nommée Emery âgée de 6 ans, se retrouve nez à nez avec un alien qu'elle décide d'héberger à l’insu de ses parents. Celui-ci est rapidement retrouvé et se fait tirer dessus. 10 ans plus tard, neuf Atriens (aliens) sont sélectionnés pour voir s’ils peuvent s’adapter à la vie humaine. Parmi eux, Roman, l’alien que Emery avait caché !
