Cette série animée est l'adaptation de l'arc « Zero Chronicle: Hajimari no Tsumi » (Zero Chronicle: The First Sin) qui se déroule des centaines d'années avant l'histoire principale de Shironeko Project. Cet arc se centre sur Iris, la reine de la Lumière, et le Prince des Ténèbres.

Il s'agit d'une nouvelle adaptation du célèbre jeu The King of Fighters en série animée. Cette adaptation entièrement réalisée en CGI est une production sino-japonaise.
