Sans lien apparent, le prieur du monastère meurt empoisonné quelques jours plus tard. Alors que le mystère s’épaissit, Melchior est encore loin de soupçonner que son enquête va le mener sur la trace d'un des secrets les mieux gardés de l'église catholique.
