Nima Aghakarimi

This film consists of three parts: The first part is called: Parrot and greengrocer, which is based on the poems of Rumi's Masnavi. The second part is called "Entering the world of dolls". This section is a combination of puppetry, animation, and live action, showing how to make a puppet movie in a musical, fantasy style. The third part: In this part called "Jewel Mountain", the story of an evil and greedy jeweler is shown.

A counterfeit 1000 tomin bank note is passed in a bazaar. It passes through a broad cross-section of Iranian society, stopping with a pickpocket, a pomegranate seller, an abortionist, an estate sale, a beggar, a college student, a wedding reception, some musicians, smuggling rings, and some New Year's revelers. Most of them realize it is counterfeit, but too late to take action.

A young woman is murdered by her own father, with the help of her younger brother. She is secretly buried in the cellar, a space where the women of the family weave carpets and perform other domestic chores. Her loss, or perhaps her presence, continues to haunt the family as it reverberates through the following generations. Ayyari’s film is staged exclusively in this house and was banned several times in Iran.
