La suite des évéments se résume assez bien par l’expression « Running Movie », où Sweetback est en cavale et tente d’échapper à cette interminable traque. Il va passer dans de multiples ghettos avant d’atteindre la frontière mexicaine.Le film nous présente une multitude d’éléments cycliques, du montage à la thématique, dans lesquels Sweetback passe et semble s’être libéré.
