Barabbas ou Jésus Barabbas (littéralement « fils du père » ou « Jésus, fils du père », respectivement) est une figure dans le récit de la Passion du Christ, dans laquelle il est le insurrectionnels qui Pontius Pilate libéré à la fête de la Pâque en Jérusalem, au lieu de Jésus-Christ.

Le film raconte les destinées de plusieurs personnes habitant dans une même ville, Tunis : Shams qui vit une déception amoureuse, Sabrine entre la pression de sa famille et sa vision de son prince charmant, Inès qui jouit après son divorce de son célibat et de ses relations ouvertes, Hassan qui décide après la mort de sa femme d’abandonner sa réussite professionnelle et de revenir en Tunisie, Sami le chauffeur de taxi qui se trouve soudainement au chômage, Mo le propriétaire d’un pub qui vit dans une corruption totale.

Algérie, années 1930. Younes a 9 ans lorsqu'il est confié à son oncle pharmacien à Oran. Rebaptisé Jonas, il grandit parmi les jeunes de Rio Salado dont il devient l'ami. Dans la bande, il y a Emilie, la fille dont tous sont amoureux. Entre Jonas et elle naîtra une grande histoire d'amour, qui sera bientôt troublée par les conflits qui agitent le pays.
