María returns to her coastal hometown after learning of her mother's death. As she deals with pending tasks, the memory of her complicated and strained relationship with her mother haunts her.
Javier comes to a town in search of work. There he meets a group of peasants led by Chivo, a stubborn man who distrusts him and does not allow him to work. Guided by strange dreams, Javier will fight against prejudice to win a place in the community.
Héctor, a villager from the south of Chile disconnected from his family, avoids assisting Rosa, his mother who lies prostrate, leaving her in the care of her sister Elena who neglects her own existence because she has to take care of her.
