Lors du tournage d'un documentaire sur les fonctionnaires « disparus », un duo de cinéastes tombe sur Charoula, une mère grecque désemparée et surprotectrice à la recherche de son fils disparu. Mais lorsque le nom de ce dernier est lié à une fraude gouvernementale, Charoula demande à son autre fils, Lefteris, handicapé, de laver son nom. L'équipe suit Charoula dans sa quête pour ramener son fils à la maison.
