Alexey Sokolov commande une équipe de pompiers rattachés au service de protection aérienne des forêts. C'est un homme dur qui a l'habitude de tout contrôler autour de lui, y compris sa fille Katya. Katya sort avec Roman, un pompier débutant de Moscou. L’appréciant peu, Alexey l’emmène néanmoins avec son équipe éteindre un terrible incendie de forêt. Alors que les flammes engloutissent tout sur leur passage, ils vont se retrouver coincés pour sauver les habitants d’un village.
