‘The Golden Wings of Watercocks’ is a feature film based on the lives, livelihoods and battle for survival of the marginalized peasants and landless farmhands, living in the haor (marshland) areas of Bangladesh, who are historically trapped in poverty formed by the confluence of social exploitation and climate injustice.

Damra, an indigenous kid, believes her mother resides on a distant hilltop. After learning letter writing, she hopes to send one to her mother. But her father's murder shatters her dream as he was her only means to mail it.

Peyara is an unfortunate woman. She has been married to an older man by her uncle in return for some money. she is disappointed to know that her husband is a coffin maker. she pushes her husband away citing the stench of his body sweat. sexually aroused aynal munshi becomes furious. the grumpy old man forcefully has intercourse with the bride. he rapes her day after day, peyara is going mad due to the repeated rape. she decides to take revenge. aynal munshi, poisoned by peyara is now demented by datura (a plant) poisoning. he can smell the rotting corpse on his body. meanwhile, peyara's ex-boyfriend hashem arrives as the new carpenter at munshi's factory...

Financed in the west and shot on location in North Bengal, Halt is a profound story that transcends time and border and penetrates into the realm of the inner cravings of the human soul. Award-winning director Gaushey Alexander is poised to release the film as part of his first anthology feature film in early 2019.
