After many years spent in a Bangkok prison, an old man returns to his homeland, Kazakhstan. Did he think that thanks to a random traveling companion, a cute guy Igor, he would be drawn into a dangerous intrigue. Now, in order to survive himself and save Igor, he must unravel this ingenious tangle, balancing "on the razor's edge", make criminals get entangled in their own nets. And this is possible for a person with courage, composure and ingenuity. Who is this old man? And how random is what is happening for him? His past is a mystery, his present is a chess game for life and death.

Cheerful, purposeful and a bit hooligan senior Arnur remains confined to a wheelchair after the tragedy. Unable to adjust, he gives up. And only true male friendship and sincere love will help him find a taste for life.

This movie is about the life of Marat Ayumov, a former soldier from Kazakhstan who fought in Afghaninstan. The past and present are interwoven in the memories of the protagonist. Throughout the film, in fragmented flashbacks, the hero recollects the time when he, as a soldier, fought in the armed conflict in the mountainous country as he travels to Afghanistan to accompany a young and creative TV crew making a documentary called “Following Alexander the Great”.
