Un adolescent part à la recherche de son ami dans les rues ardentes d’une ville secrète. A la tombée de la nuit bleue, il commence un voyage sensuel. La nature autour de lui devient exotique et l’exotique presqu’érotique. Au lever du jour, un voile se lève et il découvre qu’il n’est pas comme les autres.

At a theatre workshop for young people, a teenager embarks on a sexual relationship with a slightly older girl. But isn’t this all a bit of a mistake? The people around them react in various ways, yet no-one is indifferent to what’s going on.

Imaginary Youth follows three teenagers through their final years of high school, before, during, and after the Covid confinement. While pondering about leaving Romania after they finish school, Una – an actress, Habet – a trapper and Stefania – an environmental activist get caught in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis. Personal dramas and dilemmas unfold, as the three try to make sense of growing up and what’s happening around them. Who’s gonna make it?
