Ronald Kray

A profile of Ronnie and Reggie Kray, two of the most notorious East End gangsters of the early 60s, as told by their family, friends and enemies. The brothers' reign of terror, which included extortion rackets, fraud and murder, was brought to an end when they were imprisoned for life, and later inspired the film 'The Krays'.

Ronnie and Reggie Kray dominated the London Underworld through violence and eventually murder, forever establishing themselves in British gangster folklore. 'The Krays: The Final Word' paints a vivid picture of the twins' rise and fall through the perspectives of their allies, adversaries and Reggie Kray himself in his only filmed interview.

Steve Wraith had a fascination with the Krays, and after writing them letters Reg took an instant liking to him, even requesting Steve visit with his brother Ron, in Broadmoor. They would go on to ask Steve to take over their business interests in the outside world. As it turned out, this was an exercise in trust, grooming him, as what came next was a stark lesson in just how terrifying the Krays could be, even behind bars.

Secret History was a long-running British television documentary series. Shown on Channel 4, the Secret History brandname was used as a banner title in the UK, but many of the individual documentaries can still be found on US cable channels without the branding. It can be seen as Channel 4's answer to the BBC's Timewatch.
