Akira Tendo est employé dans une société où il est exploité et harcelé par son patron. Responsable de tâches absurdes, il passe ses journées avec la sensation d'être plus mort que vivant quand, un matin, il se réveille pour découvrir sa ville dévastée et envahie de zombies. Face à ce tableau apocalyptique, Akira explose de joie : il n'est plus obligé de retourner au bureau ! Exprimant alors sa positivité naturelle, le jeune homme compose une liste de 100 choses qu'il veut faire avant de devenir zombie à son tour, à commencer par nettoyer son domicile et camper sur son balcon, puis entreprend de réaliser ses rêves.

In a story told straight and with restraint we watch Naoko Hanami. She quit her job to look after her dementia-stricken mother Kiyo while the health of her father, Eiji, worsens with age. Struggling alone, she presents a stoic face to the world, too quiet and maybe too scared to speak up for herself. Finally, she turns to the city office to apply for welfare which is where caseworker Munemura, a genuine and sympathetic person, starts to investigate Naoko to see if she qualifies for help.
