Tourists, foreigners and outcasts converge on the streets of Osaka in this sprawling ensemble drama by Japan-based, Malaysia-born filmmaker Lim Kah Wai. His eighth feature explores the lesser-known aspects of the Asian melting pot city through the eyes and experiences of a dozen characters who struggle to find their place in society: among them a Nepali refugee with dreams of opening a restaurant, a Burmese student struggling to make ends meet while working two jobs, and a Taiwanese sex tourist who travels to meet his favorite adult video actress.

After her mother's death, Kotomi does not leave the house. Her older sister Ikumi hides her worries about Kotomi behind a hard shell and has a few unorthodox methods to encourage their independence. Participating in the Kiryu City Miss ’local election is one of them.

Atsushi limps and escapes from a closed facility for drug addicts. He has only one goal: to kill his wife. Straying around, he is hit on a country road at night. "Utsumi is an office worker who has no idea what fun is, leading a monotonous, uninspired life. On his day off, he goes to see the cherry blossoms. There he tries to focus, but does not know how to enjoy them like the other cherry blossom spectators. On his way home, he finds a women's discarded love doll who calls himself Nishi, who begs to return to his owner. The doll declares that since being separated that he has discovered a love for his owner he had not recognized before. The story of Nishi, made for the purpose of enjoyment, causes Utsumi to search his own feelings. Utsumi wonders if this might be the fun he is looking for and decides to return Nishi back to his owner."

Japan has an estimated 24000 actors and talents working in the media, mostly playing nameless roles in independent films. A large portion of these actors are unrecognized by the general audiences and not even listed in the talent directories. This documentary provides an intimate look into the lives of these actors, the aspirations behind their dreams, and the challenges they face in the film industry. The subjects in this film are the actors who appeared and participated in the audition of Takaomi Ogata's movie "Cinderella Girl."

The novelist Sawai enjoyed seeing the mirage on the Kugenuma Coast with his wife and friends as a breather for work.
