But in the hands of director Marc Luis Sutton, that’s exactly the story that unfolds in the 23 minutes long suite ‘Amelia’ from the band’s latest album, Alter Echo. The result is an opulent work of art, beautifully shot on 16mm.

When the lonely teenager Simone starts an online relationship with a sweet and handsome Ghanesian guy called Freeman, she persuades her reluctant parents to let him visit for a few weeks. As Simone’s involvement with Freeman grows, the reluctance of her family increases, and Simone’s rebellion snowballs into an avalanche which threatens to tear the family apart forever.

Cette série tragi-comique prend place au sein de l’Orchestre symphonique de Copenhague, lieu de travail avec ses propres règles et hiérarchies. Les luttes de pouvoir, les jalousies et les difficultés relationnelles y sont légion. Dans cet environnement naît une étrange amitié entre le directeur adjoint nouvellement nommé, Jeppe, et le second clarinettiste, l’irritable et solitaire Bo, qui vit pour la musique et n’a qu’un seul objectif : devenir premier clarinettiste.
