Eugene Griswold is an average, suburban nine-to-five guy tired of working long hours for his income. Then Eugene gets mixed up in his inventor friend Stanley Flynn's get-rich-quick scheme which lands them both in prison and eventually leads to a series of misadventures when they are caught up in a bizarre prison breakout made by other prisoners which they are blamed for mastermining it and now must run from the law.

A news anchorwoman from the Midwest comes to Hollywood to learn the truth about the death of her sister, the 11th victim of a killer preying on aspiring actresses, and finds herself possibly the next one on his list despite the help of an overworked cop.

Ce produit de synthèse permettrait de ne plus dépendre des compagnies pétrolières. Tous ceux qui connaissent l'existence de cette formule, comme le policier, sont donc en danger de mort.

The story involves newscaster Rodney Pointsetter (Shawn) who is so depressed between his job and his family that he tries to make a film about his life, which he intends to culminate with his own suicide. It is often interrupted with irrelevant comic sketches that an emcee claims that the audience prefers to see.
