À la suite d'une émission sur les ondes de la radio, chacun des auditeurs se souvient de ces « petits riens » (le titre est emprunté à une pièce de Mozart), qui ont souvent changé leur existence. Chacune de ces histoires racontées va prouver qu'un infime détail dans la vie peut changer toute une destinée.

This is the the sad story of a car manufacturer, short of the readies, who asks his wife for money (for she owns the fortune). She refuses for her dad bankrupted himself and she would not be able to stand poverty again. He contemplates suicide but someone comes to his rescue and there's still hope: they can win the "Circuit De Minuit", a motor race. Besides, there's a another woman who cares for him.

Pouske runs the "Le Bienvenu" café with his wife Antoinette and daughter Jeanne. On the market square, the fairgrounds are setting up their rides and the neighborhood is getting ready to party. But Jeanne is about to fall in love with a sweetheart who has come from who knows where to cause trouble.
