Alex, a carpenter who is currently on the road, is once again hit by a car on the side of the road. But this time he is hit harder than the times before and the lonely shepherdess Rita rescues him unconscious from the ditch. On her farm she treats him and the two quirky nonconformists quickly become close. They enjoy each other's company until Luise, one of Rita's sheep, is torn by a wolf. Thereupon, the two's differing worldviews begin to destroy the budding romance. Alex underestimates Rita's intense loyalty with the wolf and she, on the other hand, underestimates his with Luise the sheep.

After the body of a young woman is recovered from Lake Mattsee, the two cops not only face a major professional challenge that takes them into the dark past, but also come into contact with Mattsee's dark history and reach their limits privately.

Alexander grows up in a small house with his loving grandmother. In order to avoid his father’s fate, on his tenth birthday, he promises her that he will never fall in love. Every Sunday, Alexander visits his father, who has retreated to live in the Vienna subway system since the death of Alexander’s mother. As a young adult, Alexander wants to be closer to his father and decides to take a job in a lostand- found office in the underground. It is here that he meets the beautiful and vivacious Caro (Verena Altenberger) in her cute subway hatter store. Although Alexander has successfully resisted love before, now his self-imposed oath becomes a difficult promise to keep.
