Grèce, 1984. Kenneth, un jeune Anglais, et Theres, une Allemande, chantent dans la rue pour financer leurs vacances. Ils s’aiment. Pourtant, lorsque Kenneth apprend que sa mère a été victime d’un accident, il part précipitamment à son chevet, abandonnant Theres derrière lui. Il réalisera peu à peu combien la jeune femme compte pour lui, mais ses tentatives de la reconquérir se solderont par un échec.
