Taaniel Tina est un capitaine strict et dur d'un bateau pirate. Sa fille Arabella est habituée au mode de vie des pirates, notamment à la chasse au trésor et aux batailles. There are three children growing at Tammaru farm - one boy, Margus; and two orphan girls, Mari and Tiina. Margus' parents want him to marry Mari instead of Tiina as she is more their kind. Hotblooded Tiina is completely different from them and her mother was once executed for being a witch. Thinking that Tiina has bewitched Margus, Mari starts to publicly accuse her stepsister of being a werewolf.

In September 1944, Estonia is on the brink of being released from under the occupation of Nazi Germany only to be seized by the Soviet army. This film follows the destinies of two women - Maarja and Leeda - and two men - Gert and Mati - under the harrowing influence of war and foreign occupation.

The story of the war film is about paths of the Estonian Shooting Corps (formed by the Red Army) during the WW-2 and how the fight forms an usual man to a loyal soldier. Ideologic aspects of the movie are more hidden than in ordinary Soviet war films but they're still existing.

A talented young student of astronomy and an experienced strict professor both dream about discovering a supernova. When the student experiences beginner's luck, the whole research group will be excited. Then, opposite scientific approaches collide and decisions must be made - now the greatness of the scientist's spirit will open up.
