Alma has a daughter who has been missing for three years. Ever since she lost her, she has been looking for her tirelessly, putting up wanted posters or supporting brigades and groups of mothers with the same grief, as long as she doesn't have to work at the inn that she runs in Tlatelolco, in Mexico City.

Dans un village oublié du Yucatán, Lena, 68 ans, une veuve esseulée condamnée par la maladie, croise le chemin de Leon, 62 ans, un Indien maya gardien des secrets de la nature et des esprits. Lena trouve en Leon un compagnon inattendu. Malgré leurs différences, leurs univers apparemment opposés, une connexion profonde se forme entre eux.
