A young archeology student comes to Królowy Most to study the cellars under the church. She finds there a collection of historic documents which may have an enormous impact on the future and prosperity of the village.

Tonia lives with her father and grandmother. Her mother is dead, her father is an alcohol abuser and he lost his job. His grandmother decides to send him to work on a construction site in Italy for three months. Tonia will do everything in her power to foil this plan.

The Pateroks are a loving, multi-generational family. Their lives are peaceful and humorous. A crack suddenly appears in this harmonious reality: Grandpa Gerard begins to act strangely, breaking social conventions and norms.

A Security Service Major wishes to "buy" gullible priest Zieja and turn him into an agent who will discredit the opposition. The priest's interrogations become a natural pretext for a journey through the history of Poland in the twentieth century: from the Bolshevik war of 1920, through World War II, up to modern times. It turns out that the seemingly naive Father Zieja is actually a clever rebel.
