Une petite rareté des Studios Soyouzmoultfilm qui conte les aventures chevaleresques et dramatiques d'une figure historique réelle et slave du 13ème siècle, Evpatiy Kolovrat. Un court-métrage dirigé par Roman Davydov a qui l'on doit entre autre la mini-série animée "Maugli - Le livre de la Jungle" (1967-1971). On retrouve ici l'esthétique déjà présente dans deux autres court-métrages de Roman Davydov, à savoir "Le Fils de la pierre et le glaive magique" (1982) et "Le Chasseur et son fils" (1983).

Goodbye, Boys! is the coming-of-age tale of three teenagers graduating from a Communist school during World War II. It's summer, and their main goals are swimming in the Black Sea and wooing the girl all three of them love. However, they are asked to become officers in the military, and slowly their worlds begin changing forever. Their parents oppose them, they begin fearing losing each other and their families, and the military tricks and maneuvers them into joining the army instead of the navy

The young soldier Vasily Lemekhov has returned from the hospital and met a young woman Natasha in Chisinau.

Having once again successfully performed at the competition, five paratroopers, seeing off one of their friends to the airport, witnessed the collective beating of the boy. Without hesitation, the athletes rushed to help, and later learned that a man had died in a fight, while one of the athletes fell under suspicion. The investigator even figured out his first conviction. Only a few days later the mistake became obvious and the true killer was found, but for now the friends tried to answer the question themselves: who is to blame and is it to blame?
