When Inga Brantemo goes on a business trip to Italy, her husband Bertil gets romantically involved with Christina Lovén, whose father is a book publisher. When Inga returns, Bertil has a difficult time trying to explain who the woman the neighbors saw in the Brantemo home was. Bertil is an author and it doesn't get easier when he and his wife gets invited to Christina's father to talk business.

A journalist is writing a critical article about the prison service in Sweden. The magazine's editor in chief does not agree with him and removes the article. The journalist then plans to fake a crime to gain knowledge about life in prison.

Connie is growing up on an estate and cling especially to Gunnar. When Connie mention that she has met a man, Gunnar gets angry and repels her. Connie decides to retaliate by taking over Gunnar's sister's husband, Boris, who is the owner of the estate.
