Barbara is an adult-orientated fantasy tale filled with love and the occult from Osamu Tezuka's reimagining of "The Tales of Hoffmann". Its story deals with the erotic and bizarre experiences of a famous novelist called Yosuke Mikura whose life is tossed upside down by a mysterious girl named "Barbara".

This is the story of a man living quietly under an assumed identity, when a mysterious woman suddenly appears in his life. It is the directorial debut of soundtrack composer Yoshihiro Hanno.

Ichito Kurihara is a physician at a small hospital in Nagano Prefecture. The hospital doesn't have enough doctors, which causes Ichito Kurihara to cover many different medical fields. He is always busy. Sometimes, Ichito Kurihara is unable to sleep for 3 days due to his job. Thanks to the support of his wife Haru, Ichito Kurihara is able to carry out his work. One day, the university hospital, where he graduated from, offers a position to Ichito Kurihara. If Ichito Kurihara accepts the job offer, he will be able to spend more time with Haru and he can also learn cutting edge techniques in medicine. Ichito Kurihara also wants to keep his current patients, who were turned away from university hospitals after being told that it was too late for them.

Muto Takashi is a former police detective who uses illegal methods to solve cases which are difficult to handle by the police. Kaburagi Wataru is a police detective and Muto's buddy, and Tamaki takes charge of the special missions given to Muto. While exploring the lives of these men, the topic of whether revenge is right or wrong is discussed in this drama.

Reiko Kenmochi (Haruka Ayase) works as a successful lawyer at a big law firm. She is ambitious and she is also honest about her desire to make a lot of money. One day, due to a bonus cut issue, Reiko Kenmochi becomes upset and takes a leave from her job. During her break, she spends time sending emails to people she knows, including her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa. She then receives an email from a mysterious person, Shinoda. That email states that her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa died. She is also surprised to learn that his will states that his entire fortune will be handed over to the person who killed him. Reiko Kenmochi devises a plan to split her ex-boyfriend's fortune with Shinoda, turning Shinoda into Eiji Morikawa’s killer.

Pourtant, il ne fait pas confiance aux autres et ne parvient pas à trouver un coéquipier. Il reçoit reçoit l'ordre de s'associer avec l'officier de police Ai Ibuki, qui travaille dans un poste de police. Ai Ibuki s'est porté candidat à la MIU, mais il a échoué. Il est en excellente condition physique, mais il manque de connaissances et d'expérience en tant que détective.
