Mauro Neroni

Two formerly rich men try to get back on their feet, counting on their respective son and daughters marriage prospectives. The two youths meet and fall in love not knowing about their parents plan and even when the truth comes out and they are told to break the engagement because they are not rich, they fight to stay engaged and marry.

23 mars 1944, via Rosella à Rome. Trois pelotons de la police militaire allemande fond leur ronde en ville lorsqu'un résistant, déguisé en balayeur de rues, fait sauter un camion. L'explosion décime la troupe : trente-deux allemands sont tués. Le colonel Kappler, commandant en chef des SS, décide en guise de représailles de tuer dix italiens pour chaque soldat mort au cours de l'attentat. Avec l'aide du préfet de police de Rome, il dresse une liste de 320 personnes qui seront ainsi fusillés...

An Italian submarine commander manages to sink an English warship and take its very British commander as prisoner. The film is based on the relationship which develops between the two characters.
