Œuvre ambitieuse, elle était l’hommage de l’Algérie libérée à tous ceux qui luttent contre le colonialisme et l’oppression. Dans la grande tradition des films de montage, ce film est soutenu par un commentaire écrit dans une langue admirable. Tout le souffle épique et tout l’enthousiasme provoqué par l’indépendance de l’Algérie est contenu dans les mots et les images de ce film.
