A silent reinterpretation of different elements of the Erdrick trilogy games set to various music from the games composed by Koichi Sugiyama and performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
The video was planned and produced by Toshio Okada, who was then the head of anime studio Gainax, who worked on the movie's special effects, and Tohokushinsha Film.

It was the first show that combined ballet with the video game. Ever since the ballet has been enthusiastically welcomed by not only ballet-lovers but also those who would otherwise never see a ballet, including Dragon Quest fans. It has been highly regarded as a unique and exceptional entertainment-ballet that successfully broadens the border of ballet. For the first time, this performance has been captured on video.

Il y a 15 ans, Hadlar, le Roi du Mal, qui terrorisait le monde avec ses hordes de monstres, a été vaincu par un grand héros. Libérés de ses maléfices, les monstres ont recommencé à vivre discrètement sur une petite île des mers du Sud, l'île de Dermline.

Alors qu'elle vient à peine d'atteindre ses 15 ans, la jeune Tiara reçoit des mains de l'ancien du village une mystérieuse gemme rouge, capable d'éveiller le Grand Dragon ! Désirant obtenir l'immortalité en buvant le sang de cette bête, le démon Baramos kidnappe Tiara.
C'est donc à Abel, son ami d'enfance, de venir la sauver ! Après avoir obtenu la gemme bleue capable de sceller le Dragon, il part donc former une équipe de sauvetage constituée des meilleurs aventuriers d'Ariahan.
