Le brave mais méchant Urfin veut gouverner le Monde Magique d’Oz. Avec son armée de soldats de bois, il envahit la Cité d’Emeraude et la renomme Urfinville. Il est enfin à fêter sa victoire lorsque ses plans sont déjoués par une jeune fille, Dorothy, récemment arrivée à Oz . Elle doit retourner chez elle, mais pas avant d’avoir aidé ses amis le lion, l’épouvantail et l’Homme de fer à vaincre Urfin. Et pour y arriver, ils doivent découvrir qui est vraiment Urfin…

A cyclone brings Dolly and her dog Toto from Kansas to Oz, where life does not obey the usual laws. Along her way she makes new friends: the Scarecrow straw, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Together they go to the Emerald City in search of the Wizard of Oz, who can help her return home.

The Scarecrow, along with his friends, disenchants the daughter of the last legitimate ruler of the Emerald City, Ozma, and fights for justice. And in this they are helped by the girl Dolly from Kansas, the good fairy Glinda and the scientist Woggle bug.

Sumptuous filming of the journey of a shipwrecked Japanese expedition from the Pacific Ocean across Siberia to the court of Catherine the Great of Russia. A Russo-Japanese co-production of a unique event in history which was the hit of Cannes and other film festivals but did not receive wide distribution despite its huge scope, high production values, and very human story of culture clash.
