This is a story of reminiscence, remembering my long-deceased Grandpa. To remember is to transcend, therefore it’s a story of time and space, overlapped and intertwined. It’s also a quest of love and work, a spiritual and emotional journey; and through which values are re-examined and life reaffirmed.

Ko, a young gay writer living in Taipei has written a story about his homosexuality, and his teacher encourages him to enter it in a prestigious writing competition. Now Ko must decide whether to enter the competition or stay in the closet

A bisexual artist is waiting to move to New York City to be with his male lover while living with his girlfriend in a sumptuous loft in Taipei. In order to save enough money to implement the trip to New York, he joins the dancing group that formed part of the fat stripteaser's show. Later on, he takes his girlfriend to Yenshui for the firecracker festival and happens to witness a weird murder with video recorder in hand. He then becomes the target of the mysterious killer...

Liu Li-min, présentateur TV à la gloire passée, est pris en otage par un détenu évadé, Zhang Zheng-yi, qui plaide son innocence. À l'étonnement de Liu, Zhang affirme qu'il a été dénoncé par la défunte épouse de Liu. Celui-ci décide donc de faire équipe avec Zhang pour refaire l'enquête et blanchir sa bien-aimée. Cependant, plus ils creusent cette affaire, plus la vérité leur échappe.

Mickey is a twenty-something Taiwanese woman: sporting short hair, a baseball cap, and impressive tattoos, she’s both tough and depressed. Her best friend, Gin Gin, is an ultra-femme bleached blonde go-go dancer. Gin discovers she’s pregnant while her boyfriend is ghosting her. Since he’s also in Guangzhou, Micky and Gin Gin decide to head out on the road together. After their luggage is stolen, they’re taken in by a stranger and introduced to a glitzy, bizarrely otherworldly urban metropolis, and their road trip takes several strange and frightening turns.

The film has four main-storylines. A shoe store girl who likes Tony Leung, a couple who is suffering from cockroaches and is looking for a new apartment, a salesperson who is worried about his ex-wife, and a young actor from a small theater group who is afraid of being seen naked by his mother.

Through the stories of nine kids living in the Chinese Shopping Mall, this film depicts their diverse and magical life experiences. In the summer of 1985, while Xiaobudian (the tiny one) was at the fourth grade, he was already a convincing street vendor, who sold stuff for allowance on a skywalk every day. Xiaobudian’s father is a shoe shop owner who was doing business in the Chinese Shopping Mall. One day, a magician from nowhere showed up in the mall. He had a treasure bowl and a zebra capable of emitting colorful lights, and he was able to make countless magic tricks. Xiaobudian admired this magician, and bought magic props for practice every day. At the same time, more and more boys and girls in the mall have met this mysterious magician, and gained life-changing power after they watched the magic show.

I-Shan, une jeune fille originaire de Tainan, rêve d'aller vivre à Taipei. Par chance, sa tante y vit et finit par l’accueillir chez elle. I-Shan se met immédiatement à la recherche d’un emploi, mais le marché du travail s’avère très cruel : ses entretiens d’embauche génèrent une immense frustration et elle est ensuite trahie par sa collègue. Lorsqu'une querelle familiale l'oblige à quitter l'appartement de sa tante, I-Shan se rend compte qu'elle est toujours une étrangère à Taipei.

The Qiaotou youth LI Wen-hsin was arrested during the December 10, 1979, demonstration spearheaded by Formosa Magazine. After being thrown into prison, he learned a way to survive: mixing saltwater with white rice. He also recalled wonderful times with his girlfriend A-chun, the joys and suffering he shared with friends and family, and his longing for democracy. In this prison, referred to by inmates as the “Hotel Saltwater,” Wen-hsin and his companions, though suffering greatly, never let their thirst for freedom be extinguished.
