À cause d’une avarie technique, l’avion qui devait mener la jeune Iben du Danemark en Grèce est contraint de faire escale à Ljubljana. Les passagers sont accueillis à l’aéroport par une jeune femme, Tina, chargée de les conduire à l’hôtel où ils doivent passer la nuit. Mais Iben, qui voyage seule, reste dans la navette, et demande à Tina de lui montrer la ville. Cette dernière tombe presque immédiatement sous le charme de cette étonnante étrangère au culot mêlé d’une étrange mélancolie.
