Quatre touristes se rendent sur l'île suédoise de Gotland au mois de septembre en espérant passer le temps de leur vie. Cependant, ils découvrent rapidement qu'à la période de l'année de leur choix pour les vacances, c'est une période de l'année où les Suédois sont n'importe où sauf sur l'île. Les quatre touristes découvrent bientôt que les quelques habitants de l'île sont porteurs d'un secret; un secret qui est sur le point de faire souhaiter aux quatre de ne jamais venir en Suède.

Inspired by actual events occurred in Uppsala during Christmas 2011. In a desperate attempt to solve his economic problems Josef Esfarander, a medical student, plans to kidnap a law student from a wealthy family, assisted by his girlfriend Shirin and a credulous friend from high school. Josef strongly believes he achieved the perfect plan, but contrary to all his expectation the carrying out of the kidnapping becomes a farce.

Set in a small Swedish town, the story is centered around three best friends aged 20. Michelle, a photo model, has a drinking problem which leads to a string of one-night-stands, including sex with the hot tempered boyfriend of Anna. She has just moved in with him and is too much in love too see his faults. Petra is their clever friend who must combine being pregnant with operating her own café.
