Apr 05, 2011Le groupe a commencé à enregistré son septième album studio en Aout 2010 avec le producteur Butch Vig, qui avait déjà produit les deux nouvelles chansons qui figuraient dans leur "Greatest Hits". L'album a été enregistré dans le garage de Dave Grohl en utilisant uniquement du matériel analogique. Un documentaire sur l'histoire du groupe, Back and Forth, est sortie en salle cette même année. Celui-ci était accompagné d'une performance 3D du groupe de l'album Wasting Light.
Alors que la plupart des cinémas ont diffusé le concert dans son intégralité, certains ont rencontré des problèmes techniques. De ce fait, le groupe a réenregistré une performance complète de l'album Wasting Lights au Studio 606, et l'a mis à disposition sur YouTube.

Most of the audience had been selected from the bands fan mailing list in a 50 mile radius of Frome, but a lucky 100 that had assembled outside the venue were allowed in on the night, much to their surprise and delight!

The festival is best known for its contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and many other arts. For 2005, the enclosed area of the festival was over 900 acres, had over 385 live performances and was attended by around 150,000 people. While the villagers of Pilton have been complaining about the noise generated during the weekend for many years, in 2007 over 700 acts played on over 80 stages. Glastonbury was heavily influenced by hippie ethics and the free festival movement in the 1970s, especially the Isle of Wight Festival.
