Sulekha is in awe of her brother-in-law Raghavendra for his intelligence. Parimal, her husband, decides to take up the challenge of fooling Raghavendra and goes to work for him as a driver.

Memdidi tells a simple and endearing story of Mrs. Roy (Memdidi), who moves in as a new neighbor to the two local tough guys, Bahadur Singh (David) and Sher Khan (Jayant), with a heart of gold. Hrishikesh Mukherjee's direction and screenplay makes this movie a gem and worth watching again and again.

Sophistication is the dominant factor in the present day life of the people belonging to upper strata of Society. Parents belonging to upper strata of Society have their own lives to lead. They hardly have time to attend to their children. Children are left to the care of the servants. Bonds of relationship between parents and children, when they grow up, do not exist at all.
