Junior, gangster de Californie, débarque un jour à Miami. Il y rencontre la prostituée Susie, qui tente de l'aider. Mais Junior continue ses méfaits, dévalisant les gens à l'aide d'une carte de police dérobée au sergent Hoke. Ce dernier le cherche dans tout Miami.

A young woman’s dreams of love are trapped in an empty life of broken promises and futile hopes, as she desperately awaits the return of her long-missing father. In order to win her heart, a local tollbooth operator sets out to find him. One fateful evening at the tollbooth, in a feverish collision between reality and dreams, their lives change, enabling them to start anew.

The Golden Palace begins where The Golden Girls had ended, in the quartet's now-sold Miami house. With Dorothy Zbornak having married and left in the previous series finale, the three remaining cast members (Dorothy's mother, Sophia Petrillo, Rose Nylund, and Blanche Devereaux) decide to invest in a Miami hotel that is up for sale. The hotel, however, is revealed to have been stripped of all of its personnel in an effort to appear more profitable, leaving only two employees: Roland Wilson, the hotel's manager, and Chuy Castillos, the hotel's chef. This requires the women to perform all the tasks of the hotel's staff.

Jack Costello (Bud Spencer) est un policier à la retraite et maintenant détective privé qui vit à Miami, qui gère une myriade de cas pour des clients inhabituels. A ses côtés se trouvent l'ancien copain de la police Sam Bosley (Lou Bedford) et le dessinateur devenu détective amateur Jean Philippe Dumas (Philip Michael Thomas), qui utilise Costello comme une influence et a surnommé le détective costaud «Extralarge». Dans la deuxième série, Costello fait face à d'autres cas dangereux, toujours avec Bosley et Archibald (Michael Winslow), le fils d'un vieil ami, que Costello surnomme de façon amusante "Dumas".
