Dan Hurley veut se livrer à la capture et à la vente de chevaux sauvages, et tente d'obtenir le changement de la loi qui les protège. Pour obtenir les signatures nécessaires à sa pétition, il fait peindre un cheval dressé pour qu'il ressemble à un cheval sauvage qui, dit on, a tué un homme. Mais Johnny Trévère découvre la supercherie et tente d'arrêter Hurley et ses hommes, mais il est capturé par le gang et condamné à être piétiné par le cheval dressé.
