Les habitants de Moose Horn, une ville minière du Canada, apprennent que la nouvelle route reliant les États-Unis à l'Alaska passera à trois milles de leur ville. Ils décident de construire eux aussi une route pour se relier et acheminer le tungstène extrait de leurs mines plus rapidement. George Bradley accepte de financer le projet, mais il retarde la construction dans le but de s'approprier les mines, puis profite de l'opposition de Paul Darcy pour lui faire endosser un meurtre. Aidé par la sœur de Paul Darcy, Michèle, le constable Steve King enquête sur le meurtre.
