Arman suffers a severe wound from the second military clash in December 1948 and is nursed by the village head and his daughter, Srihati. When Indonesia gains full sovereignty in 1950, he returns to Jakarta. Then Arman is carried away by the big city life. He meets Martini and later on marries the modern girl.
