At the beginning of this year, one of the largest PFAS contaminations in the Netherlands was found in the water of the Jelsumervaart around Leeuwarden. The poison even exceeded the standard in some places by 900 times. How come this wasn't discovered earlier? And what does this mean for the people who live on the water or have a vegetable garden on the polluted canal? Are their concerns about PFAS in their fruits, vegetables and eggs justified?
